“As a leader, the more trust I have in my team, the more they can learn and succeed as a team, and the better we can fulfil the vision of MCAP.”
Karen Fogel, Vice President, Marketing
Karen Fogel is the Vice President of Marketing at MCAP. She oversees the strategic marketing plans for all of MCAP’s brands, channels and lines of business. When she joined MCAP in 2017, one of her first tasks was to reinvent the MCAP Rulebook campaign, which demonstrated how the organization delivers on their customer promise. “It was obvious to me then that the strength of MCAP was its people,” she says. “Our goal was to humanize the campaign through our people, because that’s who our customers connect with. The idea that people like people is what’s behind the MCAP promise.”
The MCAP promise is expressed through Blue Culture. “Blue Culture is not about what we do, but how we do it,” says Karen. “No matter how long you’ve been at MCAP, your success is guided by your passion for your job and your customers,” she says, adding that when she came to MCAP, one of the things that truly impressed her was the passion that the leaders and teams have for the business, their jobs and their customers.
“Blue Culture is not about what we do, but how we do it.”
In her role overseeing the marketing team at MCAP, Blue Culture is prevalent in everything she does. “I believe culture comes from the top, and it’s important to foster Blue Culture within our teams so they can instill it into their own jobs – to not only be supported by it but to believe they belong to it,” she says. She further adds that Blue Culture supports her leadership through trust. “MCAP knows our people are the backbone of our business, and that when leaders and teams are inspired and supported, they will be driven to success.”
In her leadership role, she believes in providing her team with the opportunities to succeed. She recognizes the importance of coaching them, but also to let them own their work. “As a leader, the more trust I have in my team, the more they can learn and succeed as a team, and the better we can fulfil the vision of MCAP.”

The Blue Culture promise is not just an internal expression but is also brought to life for customers. MCAP Blue Culture is all about people, and as a result, MCAP brokers, homeowners and investors are all beneficiaries of the Blue Culture promise. “Once a mortgage is funded, a homeowner is our customer for the life of the mortgage,” says Karen. “We recognize this can be the biggest purchase some people will ever make, and we value the confidence the homeowner has in us.”
Karen also explains that MCAP truly values the trust brokers put in their team when they recommend MCAP to their clients. Every year, MCAP continues to provide valuable resources to further the broker business, recently partnering with a well-known speaker and writer to develop the Entrepreneurs in Residence Program that directly supports brokers in their entrepreneurial journey. “While every lender can invest in product, technology and promotion, MCAP goes above and beyond by providing superior value to support our brokers directly,” she says.
“We recognize this can be the biggest purchase some people will ever make, and we value the confidence the homeowner has in us.”
Although MCAP is rooted in solid foundations and principles, it is brought to life by its people. “MCAP consistently goes above and beyond,” says Karen. “We realize our customers are people and at the centre of everything we do. We know the value of listening and delivering products, services and technology that works for them.” It is this human element that resonates in Blue Culture. Says Karen: “Culture is not something you dictate, it’s something you live.”
